Paul DiClemente, MINI Manager at Williams Rochdale with four of his team will be taking on a coast to coast cycle challenge in aid of WheelPower, a charity that supports Wheelchair Sport in Britain. The team of will be setting off from Morecombe, Lancashire mid-morning on Saturday 15th October and will be pedalling through the night over the Pennines following the Way of the Roses cycle route arriving in Bridlington, Yorkshire around lunchtime on Sunday 16th October.
Joining the team on their challenge will be two MINI Countryman support vehicles, one of which will be driven by MINI rally driving legend, Paddy Hopkirk. Paddy is a WheelPower patron and is famous for his rally driving success in the MINI Cooper throughout the 1950s and 60s, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964.
Williams Rochdale MINI Manager, Paul DiClemente commented, “MINI is one of the official partners of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games and the team here at Rochdale wanted to host an event that would help us raise as much money as possible for a truly amazing charity who dedicate their time and effort to transforming lives through sport.”
The team is training extremely hard after work, usually into the early hours of the morning to make sure they are fit and mentally ready for the gruelling 24 hour ride.
